Who we are...
Fairhaven Farm is run by owner/operators Marsha Anklam and David Macgregor along with the help of their daughter Marnie, long-time employee Katie VanDorp, and our giant Newfie, Lou. We are a first-generation diversified fruit farm located in the seriously small town of Fairhaven, MN between the St.Cloud and Twin Cities metropolitan areas. Our goal is to create a space that feels like a magical, yet genuine depiction of small, sustainable farming in central Minnesota.
As a farm we specialize in growing Minnesota apple varieties, including some bred and created on our own farm by David Macgregor including favorites such as KinderKrisp, Intensity, and CrabbyCrisp. In addition to apples we grow pumpkins, a corn maze, and offer an array of pick-your-own options from raspberries and grapes, to apples and pumpkins, and, new to 2021, pick-your-own flowers! Our renovated barn serves as a farmstore and commercial kitchen where we sell a a variety of local goods and prepare homemade treats such as our famous apple pies, crisps, and jams. Basically, we do a little bit of everything! To find a full list of our farmstore, pick-your-own, and farm activities please visit our Farm page. |
HistoryMarsha Anklam bought Fairhaven Farm as a single woman around 1985. The property had previously been in corn and soybeans, but Marsha had a vision of growing fruit. Due to her employment at the Horticultural Resource Center in Minnesota, Marsha possessed an interest in growing some new blueberry varieties recently released by the University of Minnesota. The blueberries did not last, but a few years later David Macgregor, a grumpy yet charming grape breeder from nearby Lake Sylvia, came into the picture. The two set out on a plan to build an apple orchard and increase an existing strawberry patch.
Over the years the farm has evolved, adapted, and changed; and we intend to keep it that way! To continually innovate, always experiment, and welcome more folks from all walks of life. Stay tuned for what's to come! |
